Sports Massage
This massage is aimed specifically at those who exercise regularly, work out in the gym or play sport or compete. It combines deep-tissue work, specific techniques (such as soft tissue release), remedial and general massage. It can help with sports-related injuries such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, calf and hamstring strain, shin splints, sprained ankles, etc.
Many people who come to me for a sports massage come because their bodies are showing signs of stress and they need some deep work to relieve general aches and pains.
These aches and pains can lead to more serious problems so the benefits of regular massage for injury prevention are great. Massage is the best form of treatment for muscle tension.
Others may have a niggling pain in their knee, say, that hinders their running, but treatment may reveal tightness in the quads or the iliotibial band. With specific injuries massage can explore the soft tissues, and problem areas can be treated very accurately.
Sports massage will help you to prepare and recover from major exercise (marathon, triathlon, professional dancing etc). The session normally includes some stretching to help increase your range of movement and flexibility. As with all massage, it increases the flow of blood and oxygen, which is what all muscles need to stay healthy.

Connective Tissue (CTM)
Elisabeth Dicke, the pioneer of CTM (1929), was a Remedial Gymnastic Therapist. She developed the method to save her own leg from being amputated. After a few treatments, she noticed that the circulation in her leg had improved and that her muscle spasms were easing. She not only prevented amputation; after just three months she was able to walk again. CTM works between the muscles and connective tissue, through lymphatic and blood vessels that, combined with Sport and Therapeutic Massage, normalises muscle tone and elasticity. CTM works for all the muscles in the body.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Sports massage Is essential for anyone that exercises, from walking for leisure to the most competitive sports. It prevents and treats injuries, gives the muscles flexibility, helps transport essential nutrients to the working muscles and eliminating toxins in and around them. Remember, when you feel a muscle pain, either in sport or at work it is the body telling you that something is not right. Don’t wait too long to have it checked. Prevent any further injury by having it treated. Advice will be given on how to avoid repetitive strain injuries from any type of job, on how to relax by breathing properly and therefore avoid upper back tightness. General advice on Nutrition will be given if needed.
What will treatments help? For the working person it will help:
Remove painful knots in neck and shoulders
Eliminate headaches due to stress

Sports Remedial Massage
This therapy addresses pain, dysfunction and tension in the body via the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments).
It uses general massage along side specific methods of soft tissue release, including assisted stretching, strengthening exercises, neuromuscular and connective tissue techniques.
Posture and general use of the body is often an important consideration in evaluating the cause of the problem and achieving change.
Sports Remedial Massage can be used to prevent problems by bringing awareness to habitual patterns within the body, which can arise from sport, work or at home.
Conditions regularly treated:
* Chronic postural problems * R.S.I, neck, shoulder and back pain * Post acute injury recovery * General relaxation
