What is Reflexology & How Can it Help Me?
Reflexology is a gentle complementary therapy, which works on the reflexology points on the feet or hands to aid healing to the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms.
Many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress.
Reflexology may help us to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level there by encouraging us to heal and maintain health in all areas of our lives.
Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Each session of reflexology works on an individual basis.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, non-intrusive and nourishing therapy.
It is one way of easing the stresses of modern life. A great way to improve your well-being and your frame of mind, releasing tension, promoting relaxation and improving your sleep and circulation.
Through my sessions I will support you and tailor the practice to your needs on that particular day.
We will discuss and agree your treatment plan together which can include a combination of techniques including hot stones, spinal reflexology or massage. Whatever reflexology practice you receive, you will feel the benefits of reflexology through a session that is personal to you.
Hot Stone Reflexology
Using hot stones in reflexology is a perfect way to nurture the body and can really help the mind and body to unwind.
Benefits include reduced muscle tension, increased relaxation and less stress in the body.
Clients have found it to be a soothing, comforting feeling that leads to a release of tension and anxiety.
This powerful treatment is based on stimulating the spinal reflexes on the feet.
During my sessions I will stimulate each vertebrae reflex with the aim of identifying any nerve roots which are out of balance and helping them to open up. It is a great way to work non-invasively on the spine to help reduce tension and to improve overall well-being.
I like to plan the treatment for spinal reflexology in advance of the session itself. This gives me time to analyse fully what you need and to ensure the treatment will be beneficial to you.
I am able to offer specific spinal reflexology sessions or it can be integrated into your normal reflexology session.
I hold an IEB diploma in reflexology and ITEC and MTI level 4 diplomas in holistic massage as well as qualifications in maternity reflexology, pregnancy and labour massage, hot stone reflexology and spinal reflexology. I am also a member of a number of professional bodies including the AOR, CTha and CNHC. As I am on the CNHC's register as a recognised therapist clients holding private medical insurance you may be able to claim against the cost of certain treatments (please check with your medical provider).
I offer appointments at The Well Garden as well as maternity home visits and I practice from home in Hackney. Please feel free to contact me to discuss appointment times or visit my website for further details.
Reflexology is based on the belief that there are reflexes in our hands, feet and ears that relate to every organ and part of our body.
Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas, helping to restore balance throughout the body. Desired long-term effects of reflexology include reduced stress and induced relaxation, feeling of increased energy and mental alertness, relief from acute and chronic conditions, and relief from stress related conditions, sleeping disorders and sports injuries, as well. It also has been shown to be very effective with pregnancy related conditions and fertility issues.
Personally, either as a therapist and a client, Reflexology is one of my favorite therapies; I am still amazed by the many benefits I have experienced and observed during and after reflexology sessions, from deep relaxation and stress relief, to more specific points as fertility, pregnancy, anxiety or even digestive problems.
Anna is fully qualified with a VTCT Diploma in Reflexology massage since 2007 from the City and Islington College.
Pre-conceptual, Pregnancy & Post Natal Reflexology:
Reflexology has been shown to be very effective with pregnancy related conditions and fertility issues. Also, after the birth, Reflexology can help assist the metabolism to work more efficiently, re-balancing the hormones to avoid post-natal depression. Reflexology can even help to stimulate breast milk and uterine contractions in order to recover from giving birth without difficulty.
Desired long-term effects of reflexology also include reduced stress and induced relaxation, feeling of increased energy and mental alertness, relief from acute and chronic conditions, and relief from stress related conditions, sleeping disorders and sports injuries.
Anna Josa qualified with a CPDC Pre-Conception, Pregnancy and Post Natal Reflexology course in February 2013 from the London School of Reflexology. Please see under Deep tissue/Sports Massage for more details of Anna's massage services.
The cost of the treatment is £45* per hour (£25* per a 30 minute session).
"My husband and I have been seeing Anna for massages over the last 4 years. We find her a very professional, intuitive and empathetic therapist with a real gift for understanding the body and mind. Whether it’s a need for deep tissue massage to loosen tight muscles, reflexology for addressing specific health concerns or Indian Head Massage for deep relaxation Anna manages to hit the spot and we leave feeling rejuvenated every time"

Welcome to the wonderful healing art of Reflexology!
Felicity Bevell offers Foot and Facial Reflexology in Central, North and North West London
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a relaxing technique that applies gentle pressure to points on the feet, the hands or the face to bring about a state of relaxation; stimulating the body's own healing processes to return to a state of balance and well-being.
It is suitable for all ages and for many acute and chronic conditions. People also access reflexology as a way of relaxing mind and body or to counteract stress.
Initial consultations take around one hour and involve an in-depth discussion about your general health and lifestyle. This enables us to form an individual treatment plan most suited to your needs. Felicity also believes in empowering people to be involved in using Reflexology to help themselves and may teach people techniques to use at home
Felicity Bevell became aware of the healing art of Reflexology whilst working as an Occupational Therapist within the NHS. She trained in 2007 at the London School of Reflexology and enjoys membership of the association of Reflexology and the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council). Felicity enjoys working with Reflexology and regularly updates her skills by attending workshops and, to date, has completed further training in Pregnancy Reflexology, Spinal Reflexology, Foot Reading and Facial Reflexology. Felicity also has a special interest in working with people experiencing Neurological conditions.

Further Information About Reflexology
Although it can be traced to ancient times, reflexology was developed by an American, Dr. William Fitzgerald, around a century ago. By applying pressure to one part of the body, he found pain could be relieved in another part. He believed they were linked by a flow of energy. He called this "zone therapy". It was further developed by American physiotherapist Eunice Ingham (1889-1974). The foot was mapped out into areas corresponding to the various glands, organs and systems of the body. The whole body therefore is represented in the feet. The right foot corresponds to the right side of the body, and the left foot to the left side. Any organ can be stimulated by applying pressure to the parts of the foot (reflexes) representing that organ.
Reflexology is a holistic therapy because massaging the feet is said to relieve stress and tension, promote a sense of well being, improve nerve function and blood supply, increase energy and vitality and encourage the body's self-healing mechanisms.
In a consultation the reflexologist will ask questions about the client's state of health, medical background and current problems. The bare feet will then be examined. Treatment involves moving the thumb and fingers over the foot in small, precise movements. Locating the tender and sensitive areas will suggest imbalances in the corresponding organs. Applying pressure is believed to break up crystal-like deposits, which in turn helps cells to eliminate toxins, unblock nerve impulses, and improve blood supply.
