BIODYNAMIC CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY is a subtle yet powerful therapy that helps orient the body back to it's inherent health.

In response to a physical injury, emotional stress or simply over doing it, the body’s tissues contract. If these tensions are not resolved, the tissues will stay contracted. Any tension that we “store” in our body restricts its proper functioning.

The cranial bones, membranes & cerebrospinal fluid that surround & protect the brain and spinal cord are fundamental to the craniosacral approach.

Through gently placing the hands at mainly the head (cranium), sacrum (base of the spine) or feet, the practitioner can palpate these restrictions enabling him/her to make a therapeutic relationship with the body through their hands. Through this interface the practitioner can gently release tensions and restrictions from past or current illnesses, accidents, emotional trauma etc reducing pain and increasing well-being.

The practitioner listens to the story your body has to tell, and rather than treating the symptoms, the emphasis in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is to orient the body back to its inherent health, which is often obscured, but always present.

Nicola-Fee Bahl is a registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and is a member of the Craniosacral Therapy association. She can be seen by appointment in north London.

Craniosacral therapy is a biodynamic practice which brings your body into closer touch with its own healing resources. All kinds of illness or injury - major, minor and emotional - have disturbing effects on the body's detailed structure and function, many of which persist even when the original trouble has apparently eased. These injuries include the effects of birth itself (often the first significant trauma you experienced), as well as operations or dental treatment.

Reactions to recent injury can be effectively treated, but Craniosacral therapy can also uncover and unwind old patterns of tissue resistance and congestion which have a chronic effect on both physical and emotional health. The treatment is extremely gentle and works on a subtle but profound level: the experience is often like being tuned. It is a powerful approach where the body is disempowered through emotional stress or over-use (such as RSI, vocal strain, etc).

Fees:
50 minute session: First appointment £45, subsequently £40
Babies 25 minutes: First appointment £30, subsequently £25

Craniosacral Therapy is attracting increasing interest for its gentle, effective approach. Craniosacral therapy works with a basic level of health not just with symptoms. This means many conditions can respond well to treatment.

Many people value craniosacral therapy for its quick resolution of some problems babies have. I welcome working with babies adults and children. Having worked as a supervisor in a teaching clinic and my own clinic, I have experience working with people who have a range of different health conditions.
Craniosacral Therapy is not intended to replace conventional medicine.

What happens in a treatment?
In a typical session, you will lie fully-clothed on a treatment couch. Liz will make contact by placing her hands lightly on your body and tuning in to what is happening by ‘listening’ with her hands. You will probably notice a sense of deep relaxation or warmth or tingling.

Craniosacral Therapy
CST Is a gentle, light-touch bodywork that aims to release tensions and pain – both physical and emotional. It works directly on the central nervous system, helping every other system in the body to relax and self-regulate.

During a session, the therapist uses his/her hands to gently hold and tune into the body of the client. Through this subtle touch, the practitioner can read the story of the client’s body, identify places where issues are held and follow the natural patterns of healing as prompted by the client’s own physiology.

CST is commonly sought to treat back and neck pain, frozen shoulder, fatigue and depression, stress and anxiety, headaches and migraine, insomnia, acute and chronic pain, immune system disorders, digestive problems and IBS, dental trauma (jaw disorders) and problems before and after pregnancy.

A subtle, powerful treatment, it is suitable for all ages including newborn babies, children and the elderly and can be effective in acute or chronic cases.
Alfredo qualified as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist in London at the Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust (CTET). He decided to study Craniosacral Therapy after suffering from chronic pain and getting great benefit from it.

Alfredo has great passion for this wonderful approach to healing and he is committed to an ongoing exploration of it. To this end he founded the Craniosacral Therapy Clinic at the Royal Free Hospital, which treats patients who suffer from immune deficiency. He also works with patients receiving chemotherapy and those suffering with Parkinson’s disease helping them to address side-effects with great success.

In his private practice, Alfredo works with a broad age group, including mother and babies, toddlers, teenagers and adults, treating a wide range of different health conditions. Alfredo’s professional ethos is grounded in a mindful approach, which is informed by his daily meditation practice, working safely and gently with clients bringing them back into relationship with their bodies and their own intrinsic health.

Craniosacral Therapy
I use CST (cranio-sacral therapy) by itself or with Nutritional advice and NAET (allergy elimination) treatments to integrate the entire body mind system at a deeper level. I notice that the body respond much more to the NAET treatments and the person feels more complete and healthier in body and mind, each time by releasing old patterns and old issue stored in the body.
CST has been used for babies as soon as they come into life to help the baby system to settle into a normal rhythm and vitality. Very helpful for mothers as well as it help with rebalance the normal rhythmic motions of their system after their labour that is traumatic or not. See my website www.nutritionhealth.net for more information.

Further Information About CranioSacral Therapy

Developed by osteopath William Sutherland at the end of the 19th century, he discovered that intrinsic movements of the bones in the skull are inextricably linked with physical, mental and emotional health. These movements are rhythmic tidal motions which can be felt as palpitations in the cerebro-spinal fluid of the skull and pelvic areas. The cranial osteopath or cranio-sacral therapist feels for these slight expansions and contractions which gives information on the patient’s health. Following manipulation by the therapist, changes in pressure lead to beneficial changes in the body.

It is an exceptionally gentle form of therapy using light touch. This influences deeply held patterns of disease which accumulate throughout life as a result of injury and illness, and become held into the body tissues. It has the potential to transform patterns of restriction and resistance at a very fundamental level.

It is so gentle it can be used for a baby and young children as well as the elderly.
